Advanced Wood Discovery
Criteria Search
Find wood species by the characteristics that matter to your project — performance, density, hardness, shrinkage, durability, workability, appearance, use, family and geographic distribution.

Searches use the property architecture managed by Species Property Manager. Historical values remain labeled and are not silently averaged or overwritten.

What kind of wood are you looking for?
For example: furniture woods from Africa, a dense wood, a hard turning wood, or a species with low radial shrinkage.
Criteria methodology: the search preserves multiple reported historical values rather than averaging them. A species matches a numerical range when at least one supported reported value falls inside the requested range. Values in known conflict-note fields are not used automatically. Historical bending/crushing observations that still require normalization are deliberately excluded from automatic numerical matching until reviewed.
